Todorov's Theory of Narrative & Narrative Structure

An example of Todorovs Narrative Theory can be seen directly within our film:
A state of equilibrium- James and the protagonist walking through an alleyway at the start of the film
Disruption of that order by an event- James goes missing after he is taken hostage
Recognition that the disorder has occured- Protagonist realises he has been missing for a whole year, when taken hostage he sees him on the factory rooftop
An attempt to repair the damage- The protagonist runs inside to get up to the roof to save him and kill the antagonists
New equilibrium- James double crosses the main protagonist leading to a huge change of dynamics within the film
